Today, we’re sharing a heartfelt moment of impact from one of our earliest campaigns, which brought much-needed relief to the Thane SPCA Animal Hospital during one of the toughest times in recent history — the COVID-19 pandemic.
Back in July 2020, when the world was grappling with lockdowns, uncertainty, and fear, animal hospitals were facing extraordinary pressure. Staff shortages, interrupted medical supplies, and a spike in abandoned animals made survival itself a daily struggle. Yet, amidst the chaos, compassion prevailed.
One of our earliest supporters chose to dedicate their birthday not to gifts for themselves, but to a cause they deeply cared about — the care and survival of animals. Using Gifts That Give, they invited friends and family to contribute towards the Thane SPCA. The funds raised were directed toward the purchase of a life-saving oxygen concentrator.
In a touching message from Shakuntala Majumdar, Chairperson of the Thane SPCA, we learned how that single piece of equipment would transform their ICU. Their only existing concentrator was already in constant use. Until then, when multiple animals required oxygen, staff had to rely on bulky cylinders that needed refilling every two days — an exhausting and time-consuming process in lockdown conditions. The second concentrator would not only save lives but also save vital time and resources.

What started as a birthday wish turned into a breath of life for animals in desperate need. And more than that — it inspired hope. As Ms. Majumdar so beautifully wrote:
